Here we are at the World of Football today,
doing a CPR/ defib course run by our good friends, St John and the City. The reason that this means so much to me is that
just over a year ago, playing at this very venue, I just completely collapsed and had a cardiac arrest. Would have died, no doubt about it, if there hadn’t been
a lad on the next pitch who just leapt the fence and administered CPR on me, for, so I’ve been led to believe, nearly 20 minutes. Which was a long, long time for a guy to do it. Fortunately he was a big, strong guy
and I’m here to tell the tale. So one legacy I felt that I could do here was put on CPR for the rest of the guys. Hopefully we’re gonna roll this out, offer this to organisations right across the country. There’s probably over 100 groups play Walking Football, couple of thousand guys playing that, hopefully maybe over the next year or two we can get
all of these guys trained in CPR, because, personally, I think it’s the best thing
we can do for each other.
