Former Man Utd skipper names club’s ‘one world class player’ in derby

Manchester United arrived at the Etihad in buoyant mood after their midweek heroics in Turin, but received a footballing lesson at the hands of their bitter rivals  The goal margin may have only been two goals, but the gap between United and City is arguably at its biggest for a decade  United were outgunned and outclassed by Pep Guardiola’s men, and even after pulling a goal back through Anthony Martial’s penalty, never looked like taking a point off their neighbours  Former Red Devils captain Paul Ince slammed the side’s performance in the derby, claiming the players looked ‘terrified’ of their opponents  Ince told Paddy Power: “They looked scared of Man City, and that’s not the way it should be In Jose Mourinho style, they were set up as though they were terrified of conceding any goals, and didn’t want to try and outscore them either   Gerard Pique is a divisive figure but Barcelona need him more than ever this season  “Once City got the first goal, they didn’t make any attempt whatsoever to get back to the game And, even when they tried, they just weren’t good enough.”  City were without talisman Kevin De Bruyne through injury, while United were missing Pogba after the Frenchman picked up an injury in last week’s Champions League win over Juventus  Ince suggested Pogba’s absence left United with one world class player on the pitch, with City boasting a team full  “When I was watching the game, I realised there was not one world class player on the pitch for United, David De Gea aside,” Ince said   Mario Balotelli sends message to Man Utd after Man City’s derby win  “How has it come to that? When you look at City, nearly every player is at that level The bottom line is, United’s recruitment hasn’t been as good as City’s. Money can’t be used as an excuse either – it’s not as though Jose Mourinho hasn’t had millions to spend ”     Paul Ince was speaking exclusively to Paddy Power News.
