Generations Carry: A Story of How One Family Grew with the Club | Elite Life Cover Story

It was over 30 years ago. Not telling my age but anyway. I was a member and it was just a tennis club. I wanted my family involved in the tennis so when they got into high school I got my daughter and then my two sons to do tennis. The majority of my time I do play tennis 3-5 times a week. Other days I might just do my mile swim two or three times a week. I also lift weights and I do the elliptical and bike. Any activity here I enjoy coming. When we came back after living away in Florida for my husband’s residency, we didn’t have kids yet and we’re still both very into active lifestyle: running, playing tennis, doing just active things in general. I think the club made sense for us before kids, certainly for tennis and staying fit but just as much so once you’ve had children. They have plenty of activities here that they can do as well. Once the kids were born, we immediately started using it. My oldest, Lena, came to the club pretty much in her car seat as I went on the treadmill. The kids have sort of grown up here like all of our kids I think have been part of the playroom for as long as I can remember. So then as the kids grew up, and then I had two more children, we’ve used it fairly quickly after each birth. Our kids do tennis lessons, karate, swimming lessons. Dance I do tennis and sometimes I also do swimming here. They do tennis and swimming at the club. Otherwise we also do individual activities. We might all just get in the car on Saturday morning and say “OK, we’re going to the clubby. Mommy and Daddy are working out and you guys are going in eZone or the playroom. Our kids always love it. They always look forward to going to the club. My daughter and I have this kind of connection that we come here and she can place the children, too, in the club, which they all love. They’re “clubbing,” which is what they call it. Having my mom a member here, it definitely makes my life a lot easier to begin with because there’s days where I might just get a quick workout in and then take off and then she’ll finish her workout and just grab the kids from the playroom afterwards. Mother-in-law is sort of key. She’s been a big part of childcare and also always been a very active tennis member. I think just having it grow from a tennis club to the swimming to the workout area all the people here, they’re very enjoyable, make it enjoyable for you to come.
