James: The Beating Heart Of Chapman Valley Football Club

James: The Beating Heart Of Chapman Valley Football Club

James is very fun. He’s infectious around the group and he’s
definitely very passionate about Chapman Valley Footy Club. Everyone in the club knows him, they love him they embrace him, they know what his challenges are. He is a passionate football boy and he loves
his Chapman Valley. He brings a lot of people together, not that
he would realize that, but when he’s around with the boys, like I said, he’s very infectious. Geraldton is about 420km north of Perth on
the Batavia coast, the heart of the mid-west. Our town is renowned for the crayfishing industry
and farming. We’d be the biggest club in Chapman Valley
by a long way. In many senses we’re the heart, in terms
of sport, of the Chapman Valley At the football club on a Saturday you look out
on this ground and there’s cars all around the oval. It just plays a massive role in this little
country farming town’s community. James is always doing the right thing by the
footy club and his family. He’s just done so much for our footy club
and he doesn’t even know it. Personally I would hope the he understands
that we’re all very supportive and we all love him. James, if you just come over here for a second
– we’ll get James up. Here he comes, big round of applause for James. Everyone would realise that James is fantastic
to have around. He runs the water for most grades, juniors
as well. James has actually won the Good Sports Beating
Heart competition. Thanks to Michelle for nominating me… Thank you Michelle and thank you Jeremy and thank you Mum, Jack and the football club and thank you to Jeremy Cassin and thank you football. The Beating Heart campaign meant that we were able to rally around a particular cause and I think that’s really important to sport
generally. Before this competition, when we went to football,
I used to stress a lot. I used to worry that he would be getting in
the way or annoying people. The comments left by a lot of people from
within the club saying how much they love having him at the club and they love seeing
him there… I don’t need to stress as much anymore. James is the beating heart of our club because
he’s turned us into one big, happy family.
