NC Sports Association says NCAA could remove events through 2022 citing HB2

CAN BE TAKEN OFF NORTH CAROLINA BATHROOM BILL OR HB2 MAC IS STILL ON THE BOOKS AS LAW. LAWMAKERS DO NOT REPEAL IT IN THE TAR HEEL STATE COULD LOSE ALL NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS OVER THE NEXT FIVE YEARS. IT ALREADY MOVED SEVEN EVENTS OUT OF NORTH CAROLINA. THE STATE SPORTS ASSOCIATION ORCHESTRA LETTER TO LAWMAKERS ASKING THEM TO REPEAL HB2 MAC NORTH CAROLINA SPORTS ASSOCIATION SENT A LETTER TO LAWMAKERS SAYING THE STATE IS ON THE BRINK OF LOSING ALL NCAA CHAMP EACH OF EVENTS THROUGH 2022 AT RISK AT LEAST TWO WERE 50 TWO WERE $50 BILLION — $250 BILLION. I WORRY WE’RE NOT GOING TO HAVE THOSE DOLLARS COMING IN FOR THE TOURISM INDUSTRY. Reporter: DEMOCRATS ARE PUSHING FOR AN OUTRIGHT REPEAL BUT REPUBLICANS SENATE LEADER PHIL BERGER HAS BEEN CALLED FOR A MORATORIUM THAT ‘S A COMPROMISE WE NEED TO KNOW WHERE THE GOVERNOR STANDS ON THAT AND NO WHETHER OR NOT THERE IS ROOM FOR COMPROMISE. THE SPORTS ASSOCIATION IS ASKING LAWMAKERS TO ACT QUICKLY. NCAA WILL START BID REVIEW PROCESS IN 10 DAYS. IF THERE IS A TIME CRUNCH NOW IT IS THE CONSEQUENCE OF FOLKS NOT DEALING WITH COMPROMISE IT’S TIME FOR SENATOR BERGER TO STOP WORRYING ABOUT SAVING FACE AND WORRY ABOUT SAVING OUR STATE’S REPUTATION. NCAA DID NOT COMMENT DIRECTLY ON THE LETTER REFERRED TO DECISION BACK IN SEPTEMBER TO PULL SEVEN CHAMPIONSHIPS OUT OF THE STATE.
