Sports club 5 3 18

What’s up all my Leathernecks out there and future Leathernecks who are watching this. Thank you for tuning in. It is a new talk with Sport Clubs. Today I’m here with Brad. He’s the President of the Bowling Club. How are you today Brad actually? I’m doing well
It’s been a little bit of a struggle getting this video going. Yes, yes it has. It has, but we are getting through it. So today we are talking about the Bowling
Club and kind of a semester overview and some highlights that happened over the semester as well. So let’s start off by describing the Bowling
Club to me. Describe a week in the Bowling Club. Alright so typically what our weeks consist of are, We normally have practice Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and we practice two hours a day. And then depending on the weekend we will have a tournament that last from Saturday to Sunday. Basically all day both days. And then we also bowl league on Thursday night. Oh nice. At Diggers? Yes
Diggers College City Bowl. Big Shout out to them. Always a great atmosphere when I go in there. So is it just the league on the weekdays, that Thursday? Just the Thursday League and our tournaments. And the tournaments you guys just qualify for them, or is it just a Sport Club thing where you can enter them whenever you please. Yeah. So how it works is there is like a master
schedule that you can look at and you basically just talk to the people running it and sign
up. And you are good to go? There are some tournaments that you have to qualify for. Like the postseason tournaments that we do, but other than that, we just do whatever we want. Cool. Okay. So overall, this semester it was good. I know it was. But could you describe to me kind of the highlights of this semester, some stuff that happened or other things? Uh yeah, so this semester was probably one, or this year, was probably one of the more successful ones we have had in the last couple. We had several top 5 finishes in tournaments and probably the big thing that happened to us this year was we actually won our conference. Which was a hug deal. Hype. That is awesome. Yes it is. So in your conference who is in your conference? It’s a lot of Wisconsin schools like Wisconsin, Whitewater, Wisconsin Milwaukee, Madison, and then like Iowa State is in there, Iowa,
and those are the big ones. But we are number 1? Yes
That’s right! That’s what happened this semester and this year. I’m so proud that is amazing honestly. And also I know we talked before this and
over the semester about the National Tournament. I know we talked before this about this being your second year going there. Could you just describe to us the experience of being there? Umm and just the atmosphere that is created there. Yeah so first of all it is a really big deal
that we made it and qualified. Only the top 24 Club teams in the nation get to qualify for that. So it was a huge deal that we were actually good enough to be there. Umm, it’s a really exciting environment. How it works is you are basically head to
head the whole tournament against other teams. So that kind of gets you going and makes it a really intense environment. Oh yeah. I can imagine just back and forth. Did you say that there is some sort of pool play before hand? Yeah so how it works was the first day we
were put in pools of six different team and so like you did a set against each team in
your pool and then based on how you finished in your pool that’s how you were seeded in your bracket. Okay. Cool. And that is actually awesome. I’m glad it was a great experience for you
guys because I know that it is a great thing for us to get out on the national scale of
Sport Clubs. And also very hype that we won that conference. Extremely excited about that. Last question. Yes I know it’s brief, it’s going to be a
brief video. I just want to know anything that you have
learned over the semester that is going to help better the Bowling Club I the future,
or individually that is going to better you in your future. Brad: I would say one thing that I’ve learned for myself that is going to better me is just, over my time as being President in general. Is that it has taught me alto of organizational and leadership skills that will help me throughout life. Just because we have to book hotels, sign up for tournaments, and all that kind of stuff, so it is really helpful I think. And it gets a little annoying communicating with me because I am always sending out emails. Attempting to see what is going on in all
of my President’s activities. But no man that is awesome, I am so excited for the club going forward. I hope that next year is just as good as this year, or hopefully better. Maybe we will get up there in that National Tournament and take down some big schools and I’m also so proud that we won the conference. That was actually something going into this meeting, I did not know. Which says a lot about me being President. No (chuckles)
That is going to be it for us today guys. Thank you for tuning in and GO NECKs.
